Internet and the web has changed the entire world. Initially we were more connected to the nature, we asked our friends circle for recommendations before doing anything. Words of mouth was the strongest medium but now web is the strongest medium.Internet is the world’s richest and biggest library, you can find everything. Yes, you can find virtually everything.

Web is what you make it. You can make it your guide (wikipedia is one of such guide), You can make it your friend and socialize (facebook is one such site), You can use it to imporve your health (webmd is one such site), You can use it to entertain yourself (Youtube is one such site) or You can use it to earn for yourself ( these are some examples ) , You can even use it to download pirated softwares and illegal downloads of movies (torrentz is one such site), you can even use it to download free ebooks (free ebooks Net is one such example), You can even use it to buy sexy shoes and fetish wear. What i mean to say that anybody can use the web in anyway for his/her wishes.

Web has become so famous these day and it would continue to grow at the same pace. But the main question is why and how web has become so powerful. if we investigate a bit further into human psychology we will find that humans themselves are lazy and they always find a way to fulfill their DESIRES FOR BEING LAZY. Web has provided just what humans wanted, to do everything just with few clicks. This is how it grew.

A simple saying is quite powerful : “Give them what they need, and you will be the owner”. Thats all for now

Companies in India still do not know the power of an SEO and what talent should they possess. SEO is a marketing professional which markets you brand online. It is necessary to understand what a SEO can do and what skills a SEO should have.

SEO Services is not a snake oil business and it requires a huge lot of strategy and hard work to promote a brand online. Inappropriate understanding of SEO has lowered the glory of SEO. Search Engine Optimization is often considered as a collection of few tactics, which when done boosts rankings . I personally feel that even SEO should understand that SEO is not about forums posting, spamming emails with link requests and just building a link resource page on website. Only then they can get their glory back.

Power Behind Big Web Companies

Internet is a great medium which has enabled whole world to come closer. Virtually everything is possible on internet from information to pleasure. Internet can give you the success you never thought of or never imagined. Many people think that success on internet is very easy and very cheap.

If you are one of them, i advise you to come out of the dreams. If success was so easy on internet, everybody on internet would have been a millionaire. There is no shortcut to success, but yes, i can guarantee you that success on internet is quite satisfying.

Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, MSN are all successful web companies. Most people think that there is not much cost involved in running a web company. You also might have heard it

“Register a domain name, buy a Hosting server, Bring Traffic and become a millionaire”.

While its quite true but certainly not as easy as it sounds. Have you ever wondered how many servers big web companies like Google, yahoo, godaddy, facebook etc. own and how much is the cost involved in maintaining theses servers. I was just wondering to know about the infrastructure of these companies. What i found was quite surprising.

Google owns around 450,000 servers , Yahoo owns at least 250,000 servers, Facebook owns around 50,000 servers. While these numbers are quite stunning, i want to make it clear that these information’s are very old. Actual numbers of servers may be much more than this. If we just check the dedicated servers India page, and calculate the minimum monthly cost for Google servers it would be around $ 45 million per month with very basic servers.

What i want to say that with huge traffic, huge costs are also involved. So don’t think that you can be successful just with huge traffic. A proper revenue model and good business plan is required to become successful. So, anything you start you should have a rock solid business plan behind that to become successful on internet.

Does Article Marketing Help?

When it comes to SEO, people and seo companies instantly rush to do article marketing for the website. Article marketing is one of the main element of off page seo and people just go about writing articles and start submitting it blindly. Nobody is really concerned whether they are doing it correct or not?

Actually article Marketing is a way to market your products and services through the user of articles. Articles are a good way to promote your products because you can explain everything about the products in the article. People read your article, people know about all the features of the product and if article is written nicely they are more than willing to buy your products and services. While it seems quite easy to market products and services through articles but its quite tough. The same article marketing when done by top bloggers provides immense results but when done by other seo does not yeild even adequate results. Reason being that people never think about the right and correct way to do article marketing.

The biggest problem i find with people is that they don’t go out of box and find a better way to perform anything which the rest of world is doing. If SEO’s know that people do article marketing to build links and promotion, they just write articles and submit it randomly anywhere just for the shake of inbound links. That helps but, is that worthful?

There are few points which must be kept in mind while performing article marketing :_

Aim of Article Marketing: First of all, aim of article marketing should be decided. Whether you want to publish it just to get some links or you want to publish articles to build brand or you want to get some visitors.

Articles for links: If you are planning to write article for links, ensure that you submit to website which has a nice neighborhood links and has a nice PR and they provide do follow links in your articles. Search for some reputed site who provide link with anchor texts because that is better if you are just looking for links.

Articles for Traffic: If you are planning to drive some traffic to website through the articles i would advice you to follow a different approach. Traffic from articles is a techy stuff. Submitting to ezine articles, goarticles etc won’t provide you any significant results. You can try submitting your articles to letsbefamous.com website which help you enjoy the benefits of high pagerank as well as targeted traffic. You can even submit articles to social media websites for good amount of traffic inflow.

Best Method: The best method to submit articles is to find some good popular niche blogs and try to do guest posts. Of course that needs your articles to be of best quality but that is really worthwhile. This method gives you both link popularity as well as good amount of traffc inflow. This also makes people aware about your brand in the market. Do try to find some relevant sites or blogs.

While i do not condone submitting articles to infinite number of articles websites, i like making guests posts instead of blindly submitting articles. I have found that one nice guest posts yields much better result than many blind articles submissions. And therefore it’s the time that SEO should think about quality rather than thinking about quantity. Quantity helps but Quality really rules.

Remove WordPress Generator Meta Tag

Generally every wordpress blog adds a line in the head section of the Html source code which states that the page has been generated by wordpress x.x.x. The information about wordpress and its current version number is very easily visible in the head section of any wordpress blog. This does not cause any harm however, it provides some useful information for the nasty people. I personally feel that the information should bot be visible in the head section.

The information in head section looks something like this

Removing that line from the head part of blog is quite easy. simply add

remove_action(‘wp_head’, ‘wp_generator’);

into your themes function.php file and it will be gone forever. If the generator line is still there, you can also check head section present in header.php file for the generator meta tage and remove it from there. Save the file and referesh you blog and hurrray its gone for ever.

More and more people are moving to web. Web has become one of the biggest marketplace. Importance of web can no longer be under estimated. So,what happens when a market out grows??

You or your product will no longer be known to potential customers. The similar thing has happened in the offline world also. Suppose we have exceptional product or service, but nobody cares because they do not have the information about your product. This problem gave rise to a necessary evil we all know is now called advertising. without advertising a product is virtually dead.

Same is the case in online world. Generally if your site does not appear on the first page of the major search engines for your keywords, then you are definitely losing potential customers. To overcome this problem we perform SEO. In simple words, SEO is the process of optimizing your site so that it appears on the first page of major searcg engines like google, yahoo and msn etc for your selected keywords.

Keywords are the terms which people use to search for the required information in the major search engines.If we quote wikipedia

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results

Does indian education offer any quality?

I am formally educated in India. So, i decided why not write about the poor quality of education in India. Let me tell you, Indian education is over hyped. I accept India is a great country but Indian education on the other hand is not great at all. I am a B.Tech computer engineer and i got all my education in india. Education in india is 99% focused on theoretical aspects. That’s why more and more people in india are unemployed and even if they get employed they are given former training to equip them with the latest industry trends. If you say me to rate indian education, I will give it a flat 3 out of 10. So why is Indian education so much worse? why?

Because of the following reasons:

The faculty in Indian colleges are neither trained well nor they have that much knowledge. Remember i am not talking about IITs and like colleges. Gone are the days when teaching was considered a good profession. Now people generally go in the teaching line because they did not get job elsewhere. There are exceptions however.
Now teachers do not want to teach students they just want to do their jobs.
Teacher themselves are not too curious.Today technology is virtually changing every six months.They just have outdated knowledge which does not serve any purpose today.
The syllabus itself is very old and nobody is taking pains to change or modify them.

B.Tech is a great course because it takes 4 years of our life but what do we get in return- Just superficial knowledge on each and every subject which never helps even a bit in our future endeavors.Nobody wants to take a fresh graduates because they know fresh graduates do not have anything to offer to the industry. I blame it full on the indian politicians and education systems.

I updated my blog to latest wordpress version. After updating, when i checked my site i discovered that few plugins are not working the way it should . Since i had only few posts in my blog previously, So i decided to install the latest wordpress from scratch. I deleted the old installation and installed the blog again again from scratch. Now again i faced with the problem of choosing the right plugins for my blog. There are literally thousands of plugins but it is always tough to choose the best plugins for our blog. We can not use all the plugins out there because every plugin you install reduces the loading time of your blog. So this time i decided to research. Research but what ?? 12 most important tips which every designer should know

On internet everybody is in hurry, you, as a web designer, should communicate why the visitor should spend time on your designed website. And this message should be communicated very FAST. Often, designers totally concentrate on the good outer look of the site and forget this goal. These are few things which every professional designers should keep in mind while designing the site. These tips not only improves search engine rankings but they also increases user interaction with the site thus higher conversions are achieved.

Page Titles: Often designers use WYSISYG editor, editors generally put a default title in the pages which is not relevant. So whenever you design a page make sure that you put appropriate titles that are relevant to the individual pages.

Meta Tags: There are generally 2 cases that occurs in relation to meta tags. Either the designers do not insert meta tags on the pages or they insert too many meta tags on the pages which does not offer any real benefit. There are, however, 3 meta tags which must be inserted in every page :-

JavaScript Codes: Many a times it has been seen that designers put JavaScript codes in the source codes of the pages. If possible, put the JavaScript codes in a separate JavaScript file (.js extension) and include it in the html code.CSS: The styling of web page is recommended to be done in CSS. CSS has many advantage over traditional tags and it also offer cross browser compatibility without much modifications.

Frames or Not? : Never use frames. It is a strict no. what can be done through frames can also be done in conventional and much better way. Frames affect search engine crawlablity and thus reduces search engine rankings. Also web pages using frames are now being frowned upon.

Consistent Design: How will your visitors know they are still on your site if it’s pages are not consistent? You can guarantee consistency by placing navigation in the same place on each page and your logo in the same spot at the top of the page. If you have expandable menu items, put them on every page of your site in the same place. Your visitors will expect it to be there and it’s not user centered if they have to learn a new navigation system for each section. Use consistent navigation on every page. A different design and way to navigate it for each section is confusing. Also make sure that the breadcrump function is there. It improves user interaction and also improves the ranking by passing PR smoothly to each pages of the site.

Images with ALT and Title Tags: Every image tag you put in a web page should have alt and title attributes. Every alt tag should contain the description of the image. And image title tags should be used to increase the density and relevancy of the page.

Flash Content: Flash sites does not provide much options for optimizing. More over search spiders are having problems crawling flash content. So, a full flash site is never recommended. However flash elements can be embedded into html pages.

Validate the Pages: Validate the web pages to be 100% compliant with the latest W3C standards.

Relevancy: This is the most important element of the pages. As already discussed, on internet everybody is in hurry, you, as a web designer, should communicate why the visitor should spend time on your designed website. And this message should be communicated very FAST. Often, designers totally concentrate on the good outer look of the site and forget the relevancy thing. So, how to make a page relevant?. Just follow simple tips. Suppose you want to design a web page for “web design services”, for the document to be relevant you need to take care of four elements.

Title tag: Give the appropriate and unique title to the web page like “web design services’ will fit our example.
Meta Description: Now fill the meta description tag with the little description about the content that is going to be placed on the page
Meta Keywords: Put some relevant keywords in the page. Recommended but not necessary.
Content: Content is king. If the page is about web design services then write only about the web design services that you offer and nothing else. If your page is relevant, you visitor will stay else he will bounce to another website.

Site Structure: Site Structure is another important thing. So,how to design the structure of the site. Structure your site according to categories and sub categories. The main domain should contain the top category and then there should be subcategories and all the pages related to that subcategory should be placed in that folder. Remember the fact that any (I repeat any) page in the site should be just 2 clicks or a maximum of 3 clicks away from root index page. You will say, okay this is possible in small sites but how come is this possible in bigger sites. Read on:

Sitemap: Always make a sitemap. A good sitemap is one which allows visitors to reach any page on the site with just 2 or 3 clicks. And that’s why good sitemap increases rankings by providing deep crawl ability.
